July 2010 – Bakmi Permata, Jakarta. Tried this at the original 1st stall before it became a franchise. Located at Jl. Nikel Blok D No.6-7-8, Permata Hijau, Jakarta Selatan.

Inset is Bakmi Casiu (char siew). Slices of lean roasted pork and fried lards makes the curly noodle super delicious.

Always my love, always good.
The problem is I’m no longer the big eater as before. At the slip of my tongue, I said “minta besar sama tiga pangsit.” I regret it and I couldn’t finish the precious bakmi.

Something new – the renovation that took 1 year to complete is finally over. It’s so clean and brightly lit. Definitely more successful in drawing the crowds with the cleaner looking ruko.

Bakmi Spesial here is like a bowl of meat rojak on a bed of peppery noodles (cost Rp27,500). There’s char-siew, beef balls, beef jerky, chicken thigh meat and sio-bak! My least favourite is the meat balls because it’s way TOO hard for my liking. One can scare away a dog with a ball this big and this hard! “Bomb away!!!”

Moving aside all the meats, the most prominent ingredients forming the taste of Malang bakmi is, surprisingly white pepper and animal fats. That’s it!!! Add sambal to enhance the taste. Slurp!!!
